Pogue Mahone’s storied lore is as follows:
Rich with history, legend, and tradition, the Claddagh ring carries with it a storied past and lush symbolism.
The ring’s original design is attributed to a fisherman from Claddagh, who was captured by pirates. During his captivity he learned the craft of goldsmithing. After his release, he returned and presented his handcrafted ring to the woman he loved.
The design of the ring signifies the wish that love and friendship should reign supreme, with the hands representing friendship, the crown loyalty, and the heart love.
He then crafted a second ring with similar attributes, one small edit, and a glaringly different message. This ring he presented to his captors.
